Makhado police have opened a culpable homicide case to determine the cause of death of four Zimbabwean citizens in a gruesome accident on the N1 north. The accident occurred on May 29, at about 18:00, while the four men were heading south from Musina to Louis Trichardt. They were killed instantly in a head-on collision with a Mabirimisa transport bus. Three of them were, apparently, decapitated. The four Zimbabweans passed underneath the front of the bus when the two vehicles collided, 40km north of Louis Trichardt next to Masequa Bricks. According to Sans Souci Towing, the company that towed the bus from the scene, it appeared that the sedan was attempting to overtake the vehicle in front of it at the time of the accident. No one from the bus was seriously injured, with passengers only suffering minor cuts and bruises from the incident. Currently, only one of the deceased men has been identified in the investigation. His name has yet to be released. The Makhado police are looking to the community, particularly Zimbabwean citizens, for information relating to the investigation. The men were travelling in a red Opel Astra. Anyone who can assist the police are urged to phone Warrant Officer N J Rambau at Tel (015) 519 4300.
