News  Date: 04 June 2010

The chairperson of the Vhembe Journalist Forum, Mr Elijar Mushiana and his wife, Ms Khuliso Mushiana, are in the process of getting a divorce. Elijar is a photojournalist and photographic head for the Sowetan newspaper in Limpopo, whereas Khuliso is a former Limpopo Mirror and Daily Sun freelancer. Their glittery wedding two years ago, held at the Thohoyandou Town Hall, was rated the Wedding of the Year in November 2008. A reliable source and someone close to the couple said that the marriage broke up some months ago. He attributed it to the fact that their lifestyles were not matching, because each of them was continuing with their own life without making concessions. The Mushiana and Nelufule families also failed to intervene because of poor communication. According to the source, the Mushiana family told Elijar that he had married the wrong woman, while the Nelufule family argued that Khuliso had married the wrong man. The Thohoyandou and Vuwani Maintenance court tried to reconcile the differences between the two, but they failed to resolve the matter because the two families were not communicating. In September 2009, Khuliso opted to leave and returned to her family´s home Thohoyandou. Early this year, Elijar decided to divorce Khuliso and started with the legal process. A reliable source said that because the two were married in community of property, there was a possibility that Elijar would lose his properties like a vacant stand in Bendor-Polokwane worth about R350 000, a Mazda 3 r worth R195 000 and the two-roomed house and stand in Vuwani, valued at R80 000, as well as other small properties. When Elijar was approached for comment this week, he said that he didn´t want to talk to the newspaper because the matter was still being handling by his lawyers. Khuliso could not be reached for comment.
