Shakermzimba fired by SMS

News  Date: 04 June 2010

Mukhethwa Mukwevho, better known as Shakermzimba’s cellphone beeped with a startling message. The SMS said “You are fired. We are tired of what you have been doing and do not require your services anymore. We have reviewed your behavior and are not really up to the level we need. Thank you for your time with us.” According to the owner of Vhadino Entertainment Productions, Tshidino Ndou, Mukhethwa was fired for misconduct, but he refused to disclose further detail. Mukhethwa said the text firing was unfair. “I don’t think it is right to fire me via SMS. At least they should have had the decency to talk to me face-to-face instead of firing me via SMS,” she said. Tshidino acknowledged that Shakermzimba was a good dancer, but said her behavior was not up to scratch and the company’s image could not be compromised. Tshidino believes that the action taken was ideal. He defended her dismissal method by saying that it was fair, because texting was part of youth culture. “We are keeping in touch with youth culture by using technology. Vhadino Entertainment is a youth business and our staff is all part of the youth culture that uses SMS messaging as a major means of communication. We cannot afford to invest money in people who do not take their talent seriously,” he added.
