Budget for Musina´s roads

The Musina Local Municipality has announced its road maintenance budget for the 2010/2011 financial year. This is in response to their service delivery obligation of providing an accessible road network within the municipality. The repairs and maintenance of the roads include repair of potholes and surface overlays.

Municipal spokesperson Wilson Dzebu says the maintenance budget identified seven streets which need urgent attention. “The streets are located in Musina Town and Nancefield Location. Semeon Mageza Street has been allocated R240 000 for the maintenance and repair of 0,2km. A further 0,55km will be repaired in Philemon Sekgwari Street at a cost of R660 000.”

Dzebu says Ralph Small Street will get a share of R945 000.00 and the distance for repair is 0,7km. “A distance of 0,2km in Jeremia Kobe Street will be repaired at a cost of R240 000. A larger portion of the road maintenance budget goes to Cass Street, which receives R1 092 000.00 for the repair of 0,52km. Davies Street will benefit from the R1 100 000.00 which covers the repair and maintenance of 0,55km and Frost Street will finally get a portion of the cake by the repair of 0,65km to the tune of R1 335 000.”

He says the total distance to be repaired in all the seven streets is 3,37km and the overall maintenance budget is R5 612 000.

Meanwhile, an amount of R7 300 000 has been set aside for the maintenance and upgrading of electricity in the Musina municipal area.
