Two Nigerian men, aged between 32 and 42, have been arrested in Giyani by the local police after robbing a woman under false pretences.
The two allegedly robbed the woman of an amount of R50 000 after telling her that if she gave them the money, it would multiply and she would be richer.
Giyani police spokesperson inspector Thomas Makhubele confirmed the incident. The woman, Ms Chuchu Baloyi, a businesswoman, confirmed that she was the victim. She told Mirror on Monday that she met the men in a street in Giyani, while they were selling shoes and bags.
She said they told her they had another business which they would discuss with her. Then she took them to her home "and they experimented with a R10 note, which became three notes".
Then she gave them R50 000. When they left, they said they were going to buy food but never came back.
They were arrested at Ndhambi in Giyani.
Baloyi is the managing director of her own security company, Chuchu Securities, which is doing business with the government.
