News  Date: 21 November 2003

` TSHIFUDI - The Tshifudi Community threatened to stage a march on November 24, because of the delay of the police to arrest the suspect in the suspected murder of the 19 year-old Khathutshelo Mbedzi, whose mutilated body was found with a rope around his neck in his uncle's house at Tshifudi five month ago.

Although few people believed that the boy committed suicide, an eyewitness allegedly told the police that he had lured Khathutshelo Mbedzi (19) to be ritually murdered.

This eyewitness also confessed to police spokesperson, Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi that he knows everything in connection with Mbedzi's death and he allegedly mentioned several names of suspected conspirators including a teacher and principal.

Mushavhanamadi confirmed Mirror reporter that the boy is revealing the names of the perpetrators and his voice is on record. He said that all the information from this eyewitness has been directed to the office of the Public Prosecutor in Thohoyandou and the investigation is still continuing.

On Tuesday 18 November 2003 a mass meeting was staged at Tshifudi and the suspected eyewitness allegedly continued telling the people and the police the same story. It is alleged that he also showed the people a tie with a blood spot that he was wearing during the killing of Mbedzi. As the police are denying giving him help, he was taken to the chief's kraal for security.

It is also alleged that one of the conspirators is a policeman.

Mushavhanamadi said the police can provide accommodation if the situation is an emergency.

When asked why the police gave journalists the information that Mbedzi committed suicide, he said that was the results from the doctors in Polokwane, not the police.
