Could this be a case of muti rituals or satanic work? This is the big question everybody in Thohoyandou and the surrounding villages is asking after two strange and bizarre parcels with something that resembled muti, one red and the other black, and a black chicken wandering around where found.
The grisly find was made early Monday morning at a busy intersection by worshippers, who were heading home after attending an all night prayer at the Spoken Word Bible Church, which is just a stone´s throw from where the items were found. The chicken and the two parcels are still there for anybody to see, at the robots at the intersection to Maniini.
The bizzare find has become the talk of the town, with many telling different stories about it. After word spread of the find , crowds from surrounding villages gathered at the scene to have a glimpse of the strange things. It is alleged that worshippers were leaving for their respective homes at around two in the morning, when they saw a person placing the package.
The morning worshippers from an all-night service were left totally shocked when they stumbled across a person performing some rituals in the dead of the night. It is alleged that the person, who could not be identified, was in a bending position, placing something at the spot, but disappeared into the dark of the night.
Traditional healer and specialist on traditional matters Dr Mashudu Dima said the stuff that was found could be very dangerous to any person who touches it and should be avoided at all cost. He said evil people who wanted to get rid of bad luck and incurable illnesses would throw those things at busy intersections and that those who touch them would inherit the bad luck or the sickness. “Those who might have touched it should seek traditional treatment before it is too late and to avoid the spell being cast on them. This is the work of evil people who would never like to see people happy,” he said.
Well-known cleric and businessman Pastor Johnny Khubana, who is the head pastor at the Spoken Word Bible Church, said it was the work of the devil who wanted to scare people. He said it was not strange to see this happening as it was mentioned in the Bible that evil people would try and spread terror among God´s people. He said the colours black and red spell doom and could mean death.
“As Christians we pray that whoever placed the muti should not succeed in his or her evil thoughts. We are not afraid of the devil and those who might have touched it and fear that a spell could have been cast should feel free to come to us and we will pray for them,” he said.
Some of those who had gathered to see the grisly find said they feared that it could be the work of satanists. They say the red signifies blood and could mean that more deaths could happen by accident at this busy intersection. “We are very much concerned that many are still going to lose their lives at this spot. With satanism very rife everywhere, we can never be sure what these were meant for. We appeal to pastors to pray for the cleansing of the spot, so that we do not lose lives unnecessarily,” said one of the bystanders.
At the time of going to press, the chicken was still wandering around and the two parcels were still there with their contents intact and people afraid to touch them.
