Man in court for having sex with donkey

News  Date: 22 October 2010

A 23-year-old Beit Bridge resident was arraigned before the courts last week for allegedly being intimate with a donkey.

The accused, Tsepiso Nare, who resides in Makokwe village outside Beit Bridge, was not asked to plead to a charge of bestiality, when he appeared before a local magistrate, Mr Gladmore Mushove.

The case was postponed to 28 October and the accused was denied bail, pending medical examination to examine his mental status. The magistrate ordered that two doctors examine Nare to check on his mental status before he returns to court.

The State alleges that on August 13, Nare, while in the Makokwe area, spotted a donkey grazing. He then drove the donkey towards a bushy area and, while in the bush, Nare tied the donkey to a tree and became intimate with it.

A local villager who was on her way to the borehole to fetch water allegedly saw Nare in the act. The villager did not talk to him, but proceeded to a nearby homestead where she alerted other community members and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest.
