The pupils of Mutshipisi Primary School at Tshifulanani received a huge donation last week, when Old Mutual Group Schemes in Thohoyandou on Friday handed over a newly built kitchen where food will be cooked and stored.

Mr Phillip Mudau, senior sales manager at Thohoyandou, says the company has a keen interest in education, health and the youth. He says the company received the request through Lindiwe Tshiembe, one of their sales advisors. “We know there is no future without education and that education is not possible under acute conditions. When the school made the request, we responded swiftly,” he said.

He said the company had been involved in many community-orientated projects for years and that it would continue assisting communities in need as long as they met the requirements.

The principal of the school, Ms Matamba Nemukula, said the school faced many challenges. The school is faced with a challenge of overcrowding as they have only 11 classrooms for more than 600 learners. She said four of the classes were built by the government and seven were built from contributions of the parents.
