News  Date: 17 December 2010

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Cassel Mathale, congratulated the newly crowned Miss South Africa, Bokang Montjane.

Montjane, who hails from the Penina Park in Polokwane, was crowned Miss SA at a glittering pageant in Sun City on Saturday. Mathale said Montjane was a shining ambassador of the people of Limpopo, particularly the women of the province. He said: "Montjane is the pride of our province and as Limpopo we feel richly blessed through the achievements we have made in 2010, particularly the latest in the crown of Miss SA coming to our province.”

According to Mathale, the Limpopo government will host a homecoming celebration for Montjane as she brings the crown home. The Premier said the government and the people of Limpopo would support Montjane through all means possible during her reign as Miss SA.

According to correspondent Ndivhuwo Musetha, the leaders of other political parties in Limpopo have also applauded the new Miss South Africa. DA leader in the province Desree van der Walt said this young woman "comes from our province, Limpopo, and we hope in her new role she will be a role model for our young women.

“The 24-year-old Bokang Montjane not only possesses beauty but she is also doing her final year in public relations and corporate communications at the University of Johannesburg. By so doing, she demonstrates that education is very important. We hope that she will use her newly acquired title to inspire confidence among young women in South Africa and here in Limpopo,” said Van der Walt.

Mr Ike Kekana from Cope said the crowning of Montjane served to confirm that every second person who achieved good things in this country "either comes from this province or their roots are somehow linked here.”

Mr Jacob Lebogo, provincial secretary of the ANCYL in the province, said: “Montjane has made us as people of Limpopo proud. She has put us on the world map and we believe she will play a significant role in changing people’s lives. Her crowning must help to encourage other youths, especially students, that everything is possible as long as you work hard.”
