The Limpopo Black Management Forum has welcomed the appointment of their national president and former director general of the Department of Labour, Jimmy Manyi, as the head of government communications.
Limpopo BMF Chairperson Abram Luruli said Manyi was the right person to be the voice of the government. “A communicator in his own right, we have no doubt that Manyi will diligently present the views of South Africa to the world. Manyi undoubtedly has talents. We really see him as a humble messenger and a credible mouthpiece of all South Africans. He will really play a complementary role and we don’t see any conflict of interest as he does not work alone in the BMF.”
Luruli says Manyi holds different leadership positions, which will enable him to adapt to his new responsibility with ease. He is a chartered marketer with an economic geology background. He serves on a few company boards as non-executive director. He represents the Black Management Forum (BMF) at Business Unity of SA, where he chairs the standing committee on social policy.
Manyi has over 20 years´ corporate experience in mainly blue-chip and multinationals, spanning key sectors of the economy (mining, auto, banking, IT, health and food). He was most recently group executive of corporate affairs at Tiger Brands Limited, a position he left to become Director-General at the Department of Labour. He is also the president of the Confederation of Black Business Organizations (CBBO).
