The ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) in Limpopo says women should take the lead in exposing adults who harass children sexually.

ANCWL chairperson in the province, Ms Maite Marutha, said women and particularly members of the organisation, must take the lead in exposing adults who continue to violate children sexually. She expressed her concern about the high number of rapes and the sexual offences committed this year already in the province.

“The number of rape and sexual offences committed in the province has reached alarming and worrying levels and must therefore be uprooted if we want to build the caring society we fought and longed for. We call upon all women and caring members of society, irrespective of their gender, age, political persuasion and social standing, to break the silence to report rape and sexual offences to the police without delay,” Marutha said.
