Two schools in rural areas of the Limpopo Province became beneficiaries of the Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Center’s social responsibility project, when computers and computer stands were donated and installed at their institutions during the past week.
Mphephu High School in Nzhelele received 12 computers, stands and a copier/printer from the prison. The principal, Mr Lukwareni, said that the school had almost 700 learners and that they were grateful for the donation.
Boduma Primary School, educating 589 pupils, is situated at Ramakgopa. The school also received 12 computers, computer stands and a copier/printer. Members of the school governing body expressed their gratitude towards KSCC and requested that the commitment by the facility towards the school be a life-long dedication. They ensured that the equipment would be looked after and kept in a good condition and that the computers would benefit all their pupils.
A certificate as a token of appreciation was handed over by a pupil, Jacqueline Ramoshengi, to the Director of Community Affairs of South African Custodial Management (SACM), Mr Watson Tshivhase.
Over the past five years, 212 computers, three laptops, two copier/printers and 30 computer stands have been donated to schools situated within a 90-kilometer radius of the facility. Tshivhase emphasized the importance of rural development and SACM’s commitment towards its social responsibility during the presentations.
