The Police at Siloam in the Nzhelele area had their hands full during the weekend, when several violent incidents were reported.
After one of the incidents, police opened a culpable homicide case, as well as a failing-to-stop-and-assist-at-the-scene-of-an-accident docket, following an accident at Sendedza Village on Sunday evening.
It is alleged that a motorist failed to stop after knocking down a 33-year-old man. According to the spokesperson of the station, WO Itani Muila, it is alleged that the deceased was trying to cross the road at Sendedza, when a vehicle knocked him down and sped away. Muila said investigations were continuing in connection with the matter,
In another, unrelated incident, the Siloam Police have opened a murder docket, following the death of Ndamulelo Mudaua (2) at Thononda Village on Friday (March 25). Muila said the child´s mother noticed that the child had been hit by a stone on the head. She then took the child to Siloam hospital for treatment, but after realising that the injuries were serious, the child was transferred to Polokwane Hospital. The little girl died on the way to the hospital.
A Zimbabwean man, Moris Magwidi (35), was arrested last Friday. He appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate´s Court on Monday and the case was postponed to March 29 (Tuesday). At the time of going to press, the outcome of Tuesday´s appearance was not yet known.
Also at Siloam, a missing person docket was opened, following the disappearance of Mbavhalelo Ronald Makhari (27) of Vuvha village in the Nzhelele area. Makhari was last seen on March 23, this year. He was last seen wearing blue short trousers, a blue t-shirt, cream-white jacket and black sandals
