An atmosphere of sadness fell over the area on Sunday, when Ms Masala Maliaga (36), and her twin daughters, Rendani and Aluwani (6), were buried in the Madodonga cemetry.

Khosi-Vho-Ntanganedzeni Kutama, members of the community and relatives attended the funeral. Ms Maliaga and her daughters died in an accident, when her 1400 Nissan bakkie collided head-on with a tipper truck at Ravele last Monday night. She apparently tried to avoid crashing into a stray cow when the accident occurred.

Kutama appealed to the family members and relatives to support each other. He said that the community would remember the good done by Masala and described the death of her and her daughters as a terrible blow to the community. Speakers emphasized that she was a hero, who was still involved in the battle to uplift young people´s lives.

Family representative Rose Maliaga described Ms Maliaga as a hardworking woman, who had a broad vision and said community members used to consult her on various matters, even matters concerning their own private lives. She added that it would be difficult to replace the deceased.
