He prayed and said goodbye to his sister before he died …
Bishop Petros Nemulalate (73), called “the bishop of the people,” community builder, counselor and political activist, was buried at Shayandima cemetery on Sunday.
Thousands of mourners from different parts of Limpopo attended the funeral of the bishop of the Zion Apostolic Old Mission Church of Southern Africa. He died last Monday, after he was knocked down at the traffic lights at Tshilidzini Hospital. The accident occurred when he was crossing the road to fetch his car, after he had accompanied his wife to the nursing college.
“As a family, we lost a motivator and counselor, but we are celebrating his life,” his sister, Mrs Emily Muleba, said. Bishop Nemulalate was ordained in June last year, after the late Bishop Munzhedzi had passed away. He was leading thousands of people around Limpopo and Gauteng.
Vice-Bishop William Maudu said that Bishop Nemulalate was a visionary and good leader who loved all people without discriminating or taking sides. “For me he was like a friend and not a bishop, because we shared ideas,” he added.
