In the ever-continuing battle against crime, the Louis Trichardt Sector Crime Forum (SCF) started a new initiative in the form of crime prevention billboards.
The signs were donated by P&L Hardware and aim to warn Louis Trichardt residents about crime hotspots. Two such hotspots have already been marked by these signs, namely the subway on the corner of the N1 and Stubbs Street, as well as the area surrounding the railway crossing in Malherbe Street.
The SCF was revived in October last year with the election of a new management team. They have one goal, namely to wipe out crime. The SCF aims to bring about effective crime prevention by means of joint ventures with the community. The chairperson of the SCF, Mr Dirk Meissenheimer, whom many also know as the chairperson of the Soutpansberg Town Watch, encourages people to join the forum and become active crime fighters.
The forum, which functions as a sub-forum of the Community Policing Forum, consists of members of the community who are elected as sector managers to represent residents in a specific geographic area in Louis Trichardt. In this way, people are encouraged to bring all their safety- and security-related issues to the attention of the SCF.
"It is only when people become active members that crime issues can be addressed," says Meissenheimer.
For more information, phone Meissenheimer on 082 789 3927 or the secretary, Capt Vele, on 082 728 9914.
