More space for Batho Pele

MAKHADO - The Makhado Municipality officially opened its new extended luxury building, worth R8 million, last Friday.

According to the Mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Mr Rhulani Nkuzana, since the transformation of the TLCs into municipalities, the Makhado Municipality experienced a shortage of space within its building and "thus we decided to build this new one".

The extended building has three compartments and more departments have already started with their jobs, like taxes, an enquiry privacy room, human resources and others. "The building is part of the Batho pele (people first) principle, whereby everybody will benefit from it. There would be no racism, tribalism, nepotism and all the notices would be placqued and written in three languages: Venda, English and Afrikaans," he added.

Those people who want to discuss their issues privately with the municipality will go to the privacy room.

The engineer, Mr John Dombo, of Dombo Du Plessis, said they created about a hundred jobs, and most of the people were from the Makhado municipality area, regardless of the ten team builders.

"The tender was finished in time, but due to some alterations, we were obliged to follow some of the jobs that the municipality added on for us."
