MAKHADO - The South African Police in the Vhembe district are looking for the mother of a newborn baby who was found dead and dumped near the Makhado Tourism Centre on Saturday.

According to the Police, the baby was found wrapped in a plastic bag. The spokesperson of the SAPS in the Vhembe District, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, said police are searching for the child's mother, who hid and abandoned the baby. The police are appealing to community members who have information about the incident to notify the police.

He added that the mother would probably be charged with concealment of birth.
