The corruption trial against three lawmen, senior magistrate Ronnie Rambau, attorney T E Lubisi and state prosecutor Estene Willemse, continued in Musina this week.
Their case was previously postponed when Rambau’s advocate, Mr Johan Hatting, brought an application to prevent Capt Moller, an expert witness, from testifying for the State. The court rejected his application this week, however, and by Tuesday Moller had finished testifying about the money that Rambau had allegedly received to influence the outcome of certain court cases. Following Moller´s testimony, the State closed its case.
At the time of going to press, Rambau, Lubisi and Willemse were expected to bring an application requesting the court to dismiss the matter. According to information available they will argue that the State did not prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
The trial against the three will continue until Friday, 14 October.
