Suspended doctor, Dr Justice Mulaudzi.

More woes for medical doctor

News  Date: 31 October 2011

Well-known Limpopo medical doctor Dr Justice Mulaudzi, who was charged with raping a patient in a consulting room at Ha-Makhuvha four weeks ago, may be out on bail, but his woes are not over.

Mulaudzi, a clinical manager at Hayani Hospital, was standing in for a colleague during the alleged rape and indecent assaults, which were supposedly committed on 28 September 2011.

Before Mulaudzi could be granted bail, the Department of Health, through its spokesperson, Joe Maila, had already announced his suspension. He can also face a revival of the Malamulele rape case, which was withdrawn in 2006.

A police witness has put it to the court that he made an enquiry about the case and found that it was withdrawn without reasons being given. He also pointed out that the case docket had vanished and that it was subject to police investigations.

W/O Herman Bila said he also contacted the complainant in the case, who showed willingness that it be reinstated and that she would be available to attend.

Mulaudzi (40) of Thohoyandou was granted bail of R30 000 on Monday last week by magistrate Ronald Muthambi after a bail application that took nearly three days.

The case was postponed to 8 December.
