Still no clear answer about water

News in brief  Date: 23 January 2017

Residents in and around Louis Trichardt who are depending on the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) for water, have been without this valuable commodity for almost a week.

On Monday morning residents woke up (yet again) to taps that still contained little to no water at all.

The town and surrounding area have been burdened with chronic water shortages for the greater part of the weekend. This follows after a raw water pump at the Albasini Water Treatment Plant had broken down between Monday and Tuesday last week. At the time a spokesperson for the VDM, Mr Matodzi Ralushai, said that bearings on the pump needed replacing.

On Monday he confirmed that there are two other pumps that have stopped working as well.

He offered an apology to residents who continue to suffer without water and promised to give more details in an official press release on Tuesday morning.

Updates will be made available as the situation at the treatment plant progresses. Residents who want to share their experience can do so by writing an email to [email protected] or via WhatsApp at Tel 073 349 1587.
