“Stop the killings and kidnapping”

As calls for an end to ritual murders and kidnappings grow louder in Vhembe, residents of Muhotoni outside Thohoyandou have joined the fray to say enough is enough.

On Tuesday, hundreds of angry community members, led by their traditional leader, descended on Thohoyandou's Magistrate's Court. Waving placards and singing songs denouncing ritual killings, the residents demanded that a man charged with kidnapping have his bail revoked, saying it had been granted in an irregular manner.

The arrest and subsequent appearance in court of the man who stays in Thohoyandou stems from an incident that took place last Monday morning. During the incident, 19-year-old Rudzani Munyai was abducted by unknown people on his way to school.

See how this event unfolds in Friday's printed edition of Limpopo Mirror.
