Fire causes R2m in damages

 

A fire caused more than R2 million in damages when a several shops burned down at the Mutsindo Complex, next to the Thohoyandou Spar.

According to the provincial police spokesperson, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe, passers-by noticed enormous flames yesterday night (24 September). “The fire-fighters tried to extinguish this fire, but with no success as it had already covered a large area,” said Ngoepe.

He confirmed that five shops were damaged in the fire with everything inside the shops totally destroyed. The police in Thohoyandou have opened a case to investigate the cause of the fire.

They have called on the public to assist with the investigations and come forward if they have information that might assist the police. Residents can make use of the crime stop number (086 001 0111) or forward an SMS to 32211 or visit their nearest police station.
