Still no bail for six muti murder suspects

The six suspects accused of being involved in the ritual murder of Mercy Ndou in 2014, appeared in the Makuya Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The accused, Gerson Mathoho (52), who is a former police captain, Shonisani Muruge (52), Azwinndinj Ndou (42), Khuthadzo Tshidino (28), Eric Khobo (30) and Rhulani Shirindi were arrested last week following a four-year-long police investigation.

The six suspects were expected to bring a bail application on Wednesday. The state prosecutor indicated, however, that there were some investigations to be finalized and hence they were not ready to proceed with the various bail applications.

The court postponed the case until 9 May, and all six suspects will remain in police custody until then.

A detailed report will appear in this week’s edition of the Limpopo Mirror that will hit the streets tomorrow (Thursday).
