Sixteen teams will participate in the “Tornado" Mulaudzi soccer challenge tomorrow and Sunday.
The tournament is organised by Sinthumule/Kutama Community Sport Development and will start at the Tshiozwi grounds tomorrow.
The fixtures are: Mpheni Home Defenders vs Tshikwani Stone Breakers (09:45); Mashau Real Vultures vs Madombidzha Celtic (11:30); Madombidzha Try Again vs Muraleni United (13:15) and Makhitha Oscar Stars vs Makhitha Iyarunga (15:00).
Sunday's matches are: Maisa Rainbow vs Gogobole Bucs; Zamenkoste Liverpool vs Madodonga Limpopo Professionals; Tshiozwi Dynamos vs Zoutpansberg Powerline and Madombidzha Arsenal and Madodonga TAB All Stars.
According to Mr Chidoka Nengovhela, chairperson of Sinthumule/Kutama Community Sport Development, the aim of tournament is to honour a soccer legend, the late Innocent "Tornado” Mulaudzi. The final of the tournament take place on 7 December. After the final, eighty sport personalities from different sporting codes around Sinthumule and Kutama will be awarded with trophies and certificates for their achievements. They include the 800-meter track star Mbulaheni Mulaudzi, Phumudzo Manenzhe, Vusi Kharivhe, Dan Munengiwa and Michael Mulaudzi.
The champions of the tournament will receive R5 000 cash, a floating trophy and 21 gold medals, while the runners-up will receive R3 000 and silver medals. The team which will end in the third position will receive R1 500 and bronze medals and the prize of the fourth-placed team will be R1 000.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
