THOHOYANDOU - The Limpopo Rugby squad called Ndivhuwo Muthivhi, a student at the University of Venda, to tighten the provincial rugby squad a fortnight ago.
According to Muthivhi, rugby is popularly known as a sport for whites and he encourages blacks to be involved in a variety of sports, like rugby. It is the time to promote ourselves," said Ndivhuwo.
More than twenty players have already registered for the University of Venda's Rugby Club.
"We have got a good rugby field, but we are running short of resources like a scrum machine, tackling bags and jerseys," said Ndivhuwo.
According to him, the club has already played eight matches under the Blue Bulls Rugby Union. "On a tour we won 12 – 5 against Mossel Bay, but we drew our second game. Our team lost in the quarterfinals."
In July this year, they played against Turfloop and draw 12 – 12.
On October 18, the team participated in a selection day for the Limpopo rugby squad and two players from Univen, Ndivhuwo Muthivhi (hooker) and Oluncide Makinde (centre), were selected.
"During our match at Loftus Stadium, our team lost 0 - 50 against a Tswane squad. We are expecting more from the Univen rugby club," said Muthivhi.
