KUTAMA – The Limpopo Dairy Company will continue to sponsor the Zoutpansberg Soccer league. This was revealed by the manager of the company, Mr Tobias Fourie, last Thursday evening at Muduluni Community Hall.
The prize money, amounting to R41 500, was distributed to 32 teams participating in the Super League and Division 1.
The winner in the Super League, Kutama Young Stars, went home with R4 500. The runners-up, Muraleni Young Rebellion, received R3 500. The third-placed team, Maebane Aces United, collected R2 900.
In Division 1, Ravele Highlanders pocketed R2 200 for ending in the first position. Tshiozwi Bepha received R1 900 for finishing in the second position. The teams which obtained the third to the eighteenth positions collected prizes ranging from R1700 down to R500.
According to Mr Fourie they will continue, and possibly increase, the sponsorship. "The sponsorship is a token of appreciation for the support we are getting from communities," he said. His said the company is growing remarkably, due to the continued support they are getting from the communities.
He appealed to other businesspeople to follow Limpopo's example and said it is brutal for businesspeople to enrich themselves at the expense of the people, and do nothing in return towards the development of the area. The vice-president of Safa's Limpopo-west province, Mr Khazamula Maluleke, thanked the Limpopo Dairy Company for developing soccer in the rural areas and said it was very wise for the owner to plough back what he received from the community.
The four teams that were relegated from the Super League to Division 1 are Ravele All Stars, Madodonga Limpopo Professionals, Makhitha Home Defenders and Kutama Cosmos. The four teams promoted from Division 1 to the Super League are Ravele Highlanders, Tshiozwi Bepha FC, Young Dolphin and Tshikwani Shooting Stars
