Benny's Care Soccer Academy collected maximum points during their Safa Vhembe SAB league match after beating Makhitha Oscar Stars 2-0 on Sunday at the Tshiozwi grounds.
Stars had nobody to blame but themselves for the defeat. Stars squandered numerous obvious chances in the first half. The leading goal scorer, Ntungufhadzeni Masinga, could not live up to his reputation as he was well contained by Rendani Galedzane. Frazer Moyaba and Sydney Luvhengo of Stars should have scored more than twice each, but it was clearly not their day to be famous.
Stars were matching their opponents punch for punch in the first half, but their original stamina faded as the going became tough. Benny's then started to take command of the game, searching for goals. The pressure increased on their opponent's defenders, who continuously made mistakes. The guys who were giving the Stars defence a terrible headache were Phophi Phophi and Yona Mulaudzi. Lloyd Davhana scored via a header after he finished off a corner kick taken by Rendani Galedzane.
Ndanganeni Mudzunga should have equalised when the match was 74 minutes old, but his shot was saved by the keeper, Oscar Chauke. Both sides frustrated their fans a great deal by wasting obvious chances.
Andrew Kabota of Benny's Care was red-carded for wasting time.
The second goal was scored by Rendani Galedzane from the corner spot.
Stars introduced Arthur Selota for Ntungufhadzeni Masinga late in the match.
Benny's should have increased the margin, but their kingpin, Yona Mulaudzi's shot hit the cross bar and bounced back into play.
