"Elim Spar will continue to sponsor the Makhado Local Football Association," said the manager of Elim Spar, Henk Jacobs, during the prize-giving ceremony of the Elim Super Spar Soccer Challenge last Friday.
He congratulated the Makhado Local Football Association (MALFA) for developing the talent of the youth and stated that the association's administration was running very well. Elim Spar has been a sponsor of local sports for the past three years.
The president of the Safa Vhembe region, Mr George Kubayi, emphasised that it is difficult for the association to run smoothly without a sponsor. Kubayi appealed to the business community to follow in the footsteps of Elim Spar, saying sport has also became a major employment provider. He further indicated that sponsoring the associations was not good enough, as the individual clubs cannot carry the financial burden of running the day-to-day affairs of the teams without sponsorship. Kubayi applauded the sponsor for helping to identify the talent of the region's youth and added that the youth of this region should be proud of their talent and that they should be exposed to bigger teams.
