JOHANNESBURG - Moroka Swallows and Dynamos played to a spectacular draw in a match that saw six goals being scored in the second half of this pulsating Castle Premiership match.
Dynamos scored the equaliser three minutes into injury time to grab a point after Swallows led 2-0 at one stage. The Dube Birds then proceeded to throw away a match-winning lead, that will no doubt incense their fans, as well coach Gavin Hunt.
The first half was a lacklustre affair, and the way the two teams performed during this period, it seemed as if neither would be able to score during the 90 minutes. The second half started with a bang, however, with Swallows scoring twice in five minutes to take a 2-0 lead. First Lungani Ndlela scored in the 47th minute, after good work from Dennis Lota, who did the spadework.
Just three minutes later Swallows doubled the lead, with Warren Lewis left unchallenged as he headed home Edzai Kasinauyo's corner. The goals brought joy to the Swallows camp, and they looked to be cruising to victory. However, in the 75th minute, Dynamos received a lifeline when Joel Seroba scored a penalty, after George Hummel had brought down Dynamos' striker Siphiwe Mbambo. Just six minutes from the end, Dynamos equalized through David Mathebula, leaving the home fans stunned, and the score 2-2. But just a minute before the end, Swallows were awarded a penalty when Warren Lewis was fouled by Lifa Qosha. Gary McNab banged the ball home to give Swallows the lead, and in the eyes of many, all three points. Three minutes into referee's optional time, Swallows fell asleep and Mbambo sneaked in to give his side a point, and maybe save coach Jacob Sakala's job for a while longer, as the match ended 3-3.
