After beating Duthuni United Brothers 4-1 away from home on Saturday, Gwamasenga United Brothers continued to impress their fans by beating Mutandani Pull Together 2-1 at the Gwamasenga grounds on Sunday afternoon.
Their Sunday match against Pull Together was a balanced affair. Both sides displayed entertaining football from the onset.
The vastly experienced left-footed striker for Pull Together, Nathaniel Maise, kept the Brothers defence running for cover. Maise was everywhere, initiating some dangerous moves from wherever he was. Realizing that Maise was a dangerous player, the coach of Brothers assigned Dakalo Mudau the task of neutralising him. It did work for the home side as both Maise and the other playmaker, Khathutshelo Nekhofhe, could not live up to the fans’ expectations.
United Brothers scored in the 27th minute. Oscar Mulangaphuma tapped in a loose ball after a scramble within the box. The visitors from Lwamondo-Murahuhathavha retaliated six minutes later. Thuso Mangenge headed home, following a square pass from Lucky Midana. The players of United Brothers were not happy with the referee’s decision to award Pull Together a goal. They argued that the scorer had been in an offside position. During the argument, their captain, Oscar Mulangaphuma, was cautioned with a card.
The captain of Pull Together, Mulingoni Netshidongololwe, was replaced with Mpho Nthangeni. United Brothers scored the winner from a set piece via a substitute, Rofhiwa Ganyane.
