Basel FC disappointed their supporters by sharing the spoils with Super Eagles, when they played to a goalless draw in their Vodacom Promotional League match at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.
Eagles managed to match the hosts in all departments, despite the fact that they are languishing at the bottom of the log. Shortly after the start of the match, Basel's experienced striker, Jafta Mabosho, left the pitch on a stretcher after sustaining an ankle injury. He was replaced by Louis Chauke, who squandered several scoring chances. He caused the first upset in the 24th minute. He beat the offside trap and shot aimlessly from the goalmouth, much to the disappointment of the fans. He also received a beautiful cross from Gift Ramaxwaila and fumbled at the goal finish moments later.
Gift Ramaxwaila was replaced with Khumbudzo Muvhango in the 58th minute. Muvhango could not match the tempo of the game. Seeing that their winning chances were slim, Super Eagles played long balls from behind in a way that demonstrated that they were happy with a draw. Basel effected two more changes later in the game, but that did not help them either.
