THOHOYANDOU - A 13-year-old tennis player, Tendani Ramulifho of Thohoyandou, has been granted a bursary worth R5 000 per month to enter the South African Tennis Performance Centre in Pretoria next year.
The bursary covers the full day tennis programme, meals, boarding and lodging. The news came as a great relief to his parents who have been investing heavily in him financially. Tendani has had a distinguished tennis career since the age of nine, winning in Nelspruit, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and other places in South Africa.
This year he is a Grade 8 learner at Louis Trichardt High School where he was chosen as captain and was unbeaten in all the matches he played, thereby assisting the school to obtain position 2 in school league tennis. The school has honoured him with colours, certificates and a trophy for all his efforts.
He also received medals from the International Tennis Federation in Southern African countries having represented South Africa twice in 2001 and 2002.
