No Land of Legend for 2012

The popular annual Land of Legend Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on 28 April in Thohoyandou, has been cancelled.
The Soutpansberg Athletics Club announced this week that the event will not take place this year. This after the main sponsor of the event, Thulamela Municipality, withdrew their sponsorship due to the fact that they support federations and not sponsor events.
“This withdrawal came at a late stage and we could not negotiate a new sponsor in the limited time available. We as the event organisers have a long and committed relationship with the different stakeholders from the past and we will definitely invite all past stakeholders and potential future stakeholders to attend a planning session for the year 2013,” the club said.

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter.
