Not only did Makhado Football Club win the FNB Legacy Tournament, but they also registered an amazing 6-2 victory against Swakoteka FC in the final of the tournament at the FNB Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.
Makhado wasted no time in opening their account. Their first goal came in the fourth minute when Lufuno Kwinda was on target, following a neat pass from his captain, Muneri Ramuthivheli. The second goal was scored by Rofhiwa Nemaguvhuni. He made no mistake from inside the box, following a square pass from Mashudu Masakona. Makhado put matters beyond doubt when Lufuno Kwinda beat the offside trap and blasted in a ground cutter.
Swakoteka pulled one back through Wiseman Ngobeni in the 34th minute. The score was 3-2 at half time, after Swakoteka scored again via Velaphi Magezi in the 44th minute.
Makhado managed to score three more goals, despite the fact that they were reduced to 10 men early in the last half. Mashudu Masakona was given his marching orders, following a late tackle on Matimba Nkwinika. The three goals were scored by Muneri Ramuthivheli (two) and Lufuno Kwinda.
Makhado were presented with a floating trophy and gold medals during the prize-giving ceremony that was held at the stadium shortly after the final match. Swakoteka received silver medals.
