MAKHADO – Clubs affiliated to the Dzanani District Football Association (Dzadfa) have all the reasons to smile after they received a financial boost from a local businessman. The sponsorship was officially launched during a ceremony held at the Netshidaulu Hall at Makhado on Sunday.

During the ceremony the managing director of Makhado Funeral Undertakers, Mr Sam Ntshauba, handed over a cheque amounting to R15 000 to the president of the association Mr NA Malisha.

In his speech Mr Ntshauba stated that his business was established early last year. He attributed his business success to the unlimited support from the local communities. He revealed that the sponsorship would increase from one season to the other depending on the financial position of the business.

Ntshauba further stated that the association would now be known as Makhado Funeral Undertakers Soccer League.

A member of the provincial legislature in the Limpopo Province, Dr Alfred Nevhutanda, delivered the keynote address during the ceremony. He defined football as a good tool to fight unemployment and poverty. He further stated that the government alone couldn't afford to address the high rate of unemployment.

He appealed to the private sector to pump more funds into the development of sports. The president of the SAFA Northern Province East Regional Association (NPER) Mr Kirsten Nematandani praised the sponsor for their decision to channel funds towards football development despite the economic hardships in the country.
