Cash prizes for Vhembe SAB League teams

Last Saturday was harvest day for the teams affiliated with the Vhembe SAB League last season. During the ceremony, cash prizes totaling about half a million rands were distributed to the 134 teams.

It took place at the Thohoyandou Town Hall last Sunday evening.

The overall champions, Tshifhire Northern Brothers, went home with R20 000 and a floating trophy. Mulodi Freedom Birds (second place) became R15 000 richer and the third prize of R13 000 was presented to Tshakhuma RO United. Mukula Young Santos (fourth) took home R11 000.

The next five teams, Makovha All Stars, Joe’s Express, Malamulele FC, Muthelo FC and Rabali Pull Together, were presented with R9 000 each, and the teams which finished the league programme in the second position in their respective streams were each presented with R6 000.

The prizes of the SAFA Total Challenge were also distributed to the winning teams. The champions, Ngwenani Young Chiefs, went home smiling with R30 000, apart from the R6 000 which they received after completing their league programme in the second spot in Stream C.

The Nedbank Cup prizes were also presented to the winners. Mukula Young Santos, the champions, received R6 000. The second prize of R4000 went to Tshakhuma RO United.

The teams affiliated to the Absa Women’s League were also rewarded. The biggest cheque of R8 000 was presented to Shayandima Morning Stars.

The chairperson of the competition committee of the South African Football Association, Mr Sam Masetenyane, delivered the keynote address and praised the leaders of the Vhembe Regional League for their good administration.
