Maebane Young Eagles outclassed Maebane Aces United in their Limpopo Dairy derby played at the Maebane grounds on Saturday. Eagles won 1-0.
The score is not a true reflection of the game, as Eagles were dictating terms in all departments throughout the game. Aces used their height advantage fruitfully by playing high balls from behind.
On the other hand, the home side were let down by their midfielder Humbulani Managa, whose passes were too short to reach their destination. The home team squandered an obvious chance in the 27th minute when Thapelo Sadiki received a loose ball within the box and shot wide.
The home side left Masala Ramashia in the dressing room and brought up Khangwelo Rambulana in his place. Adolphus Ramarema replaced Ramunna Makhokha in the 78th minute. They finished off their substitution chances by introducing Kedibone Sioga for Phunudzo Mavhusha.
Eagles missed two clear chances early in the second half. Ernest Munyadziwa was the culprit in both instances. The visitors utilised their substitution chance when they introduced Tshungu Sitelele for Livhuwani Sioga.
Sitelele added more life to the fading midfield for Aces with his dribbling skills. Gibson Matlari caught the Aces keeper, Tokelo Ramatjie, off guard and blasted in a half volley from inside the box late in the match.
