Bayern Munich were crowned the Youth Day champions, when they beat Masakona Power Seven 1-0 in the final match played at Masakona on Saturday.
The game started at a blistering pace, with the Bayern players the superiors in as far as ball possession was concerned. Power Seven should have scored in the 10th minute, but Percy Mabasa shot wide with an empty net in front of him.
Power Seven changed their original pattern and started to initiate moves from behind. They did not reap anything from their efforts, as it was not easy to find their way through the rock-solid defence of Bayern.
Bayern also wasted a number of chances in the 17th and 19th minutes, with their strikers shooting aimlessly from close range. Marks Munyai and Matodzi Maphangule combined well with the midfielders, who also dished some telling passes to their frontrunners.
The goal that saw Bayern win the championship came in the 78th minute. A substitute, Phumudzo Mugeri, crossed the ball to Matodzi Maphangule, who easily beat keeper Mashudu Mudau. Power Seven tried everything within their power to find the equaliser, but could not breach the strong defence.
Bayern received R1 500 and a floating trophy during a prize-giving ceremony that took place after the match. Power Seven went home with R700.
