Tshikhwani Stone Breakers the new Limpopo Dairy champs

Sport  Date: 29 June 2012

Tshikhwani Stone Breakers emerged as the champions of the Limpopo Dairy League when they beat their rivals, Madombidzha Celtic, 1-0 at the Madombidzha grounds on Sunday.

Celtic were strong at the far back and their striking force started off well, but the team lacked cohesion in the middle of the park. Stone Breakers tried to break through the defence by ballooning balls from behind, but to no avail. Celtic's defence was rock solid, allowing nothing to get through.

Thabiso Mukondeleli of Stone Breakers was booked for using unlawful tactics early in the match. Breakers enjoyed more ball possession, but their promising moves were turned into nothing by the Celtic defenders. No goal was seen during the first half.

The trend continued in the second half, mainly due to the fact that Celtic were cooling the ball down in the middle, thus giving their opponents no chance to do as they pleased. Matters got worse for Breakers when their right back, Tendani Davhana, was booked for faking an injury in the 48th minute.

The only goal for Breakers was scored in the 64th minute. Abby Raphulu tried his luck from the 25-metre area. The keeper of Celtic, Aston Masase, misjudged the flight of the ball and he suffered the pain of watching it go beyond his reach.

Breakers introduced Martin Dlamini for goal scorer Abby Raphulu shortly afterwards. The replacement proved to be a fortuitous move on the part of their technical staff. Dlamini was rock solid at the back, defending all the tricky moves from their opponents.

Thabo Mamburu of Celtic was cautioned with a card for rough tackling on Morethe Letlalo.
