Mailaskop Pull Together registered a 4-0 victory over Benny’s Care Development Academy in a Vhembe District Mayoral Cup match at the Tshiozwi grounds on Saturday.
Benny's had nobody to blame but themselves for the defeat. They squandered numerous obvious chances in the first half. Their leading goal scorer, Phophi Phophi, could not live up to his reputation, as he was contained by Tshilidzi Muraga.
Benny's were matching their opponents in the first half, but their stamina faded as the going became tough. Melvin Tshifularo was a difficult man to mark. He eluded the Benny's defence as he kept running from the onset.
Pull Together’s keeper, Walter Chuma, denied the opposition several sure chances. The visitors scored when Melvin Tshifularo broke the ice in the 49th minute. The goal came against the run of play and Chuma caught Thendo Sidaela off guard.
Melvin Mbatha added another goal seven minutes later. Benny's tried to use offside traps and nearly paid for that as Tshilidzi Muraga and Norman Mudau took advantage of the situation.
Christopher Manyatsha increased the tally to 3-0 and Melvin Tshifularo scored the final goal for Pull Together in the 78th minute. Yona Mulaudzi of Benny's was red carded for a rough attack on Pull Together’s keeper.
