Tshakhuma RO United were crowned the champions of the Rospa United Winter Challenge last Saturday. They beat the hosts, Rospa United FC, 5-3 in the final of the competition at the Vuwani Mandani grounds.
RO United received R5 000 during the prize-giving ceremony, which was held at the grounds after the final. Apart from the money, RO United also received a soccer kit, gold medals and a floating trophy.
The runners-up, Rospa United, received R2 500, a soccer kit and silver medals, while the third-placed side, Ramukhuba Young Brothers, went home with R1 500 and bronze medals. Phadziri FC, who ended fourth, received R1 000 and a soccer ball.
The top goal scorer, Pfunzo Dzhuguda, of Ramukhuba Young Brothers, received a trophy during the ceremony. Asivhanzhi Muthubi of Tshakhuma RO United (player of the tournament) and Khuthadzo Mukomafhedzi (keeper of the tournament) also received trophies during the ceremony.
The mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr David Mutavhatsindi, revealed during the ceremony that this municipality will upgrade the Vuwani Mandani grounds during the current financial year.
The managing director of Rospa United, Mr Joseph Mutavhatsindi, also announced that the tournament will become an annual event, with the sponsorship increasing over time.
