Rockers FC secured a place in the semifinal stage of the prestigious Vhembe Mayoral Cup Tournament by beating Matanda Golden Arrows 4-0 at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.

Golden Arrows displayed entertaining football in the first half, but their original stamina vanished over time. The Tshilamba-based referee, Avhasei Simba, flashed only one yellow card in the first half. Shumani Muravha of Golden Arrows tackled Mpho Mathivha from behind in the 18th minute, thus prompting the referee to produce yellow.

No goal was seen during the first half, despite numerous attempts from both sides.

Rockers scored their opening goal in the 54th minute. Their Rastafarian striker, Mukondeleli Tshivhula, blasted in a rocket after a scramble within the box.

As if they were leading, Golden Arrows started to play defensive football. They were severely punished for that. Mpho Mathivha gave the ball a final touch after Mukondeleli Tshivhula’s attempt hit the woodwork and bounced back into play.

Livhuwani Ramaligani of Rockers, who came on as a substitute, was reprimanded with a card for ignoring the referee’s whistle in the 67th minute. Ramaligani kicked the ball away long after the referee had blown the whistle for an offside.

Mpho Mathivha scored the third for Rockers after forcing his way through the defence of Arrows. Dakalo Tshisikule scored the fourth late in the game.
