Stanley finished the closely contested race over a distance of 21,1 kilometres in a time of 1:19:36, three minutes and eight seconds slower than Jefferey Baloyi's winning time of 1:16:28 last year. His winning time in 2000 was 1:18:13.
A second later, Jacob Madima from Harmony finished in second place in a time of 1:19:37. Jacob and Stanley ran shoulder to shoulder for most of the race, right up to the finishing line. Jacob is also no stranger to this race, but always seems to finish second. This year's third place honours went to Tshifhiwa Khangale (Protea) in a time of 1:21:27. Khangale last year finished second in the race.
The first veteran to cross the finishing line was Albert Masela (Gygimas), who also won this category last year. His time was 1:29:59. Second was Markus Mothoa (Mokopane) in a time of 1:30:47. This year, the masters' category for men was snatched by Petrus Dhavhana (SAPS) in a time of 1:33:31, while Rian Burger (Tzaneen) won the walkers category in a time of 2:48:44.
The first senior woman to make it home was Eunice Mundalamo (Tshakhuma) in a time of 1:37:21, followed by Riette Taute (Tzaneen) in a time of 1:37:41. Sihadi Mbofholowo was third in 1:42:13. Riette was also the first veteran woman, while second place in this category went to Jane Mudau in a time of 1:51:29. Barbara Ledwaba won the woman's masters category in a time of 2:30:36.
The ten-kilometre race this year drew 30 entries. The race was won by T Rasiringwana in 00:32:45, followed by A Munyai in second place with a time of 00:35:02. P Ndou was third in a time of 00:36:17.
