The final of the Vhembe District Mayoral Challenge Tournament will be staged at the Makwarela Stadium tomorrow.

Ngwenani Young Chiefs and Madombidzha Arsenal will meet in the dream final. Arsenal did the unexpected when they beat Muthelo FC 8-7 in their semifinal at the same venue last Sunday. Young Chiefs’ way to the final went via Rockers FC, whom they beat 6-5 in the semifinal.

Coincidentally, Young Chiefs and Arsenal are coached by two brothers, Messrs Mukosi Themeli (Young Chiefs) and Maanda Themeli of Arsenal.

The younger brother, Maanda, was quick to mention that he will not show any respect for his elder brother on the field of play, saying he did not mix business with brotherhood. When asked about his secret weapons, Themeli (junior) said that all his players were razor sharp.

In his response, Themeli senior stated that it would be time for him to show Maanda that he was not only a big brother because he was the firstborn, saying the younger brother had much to learn from him when it came to football tactics.

The two teams who lost in the semifinal stage of the competition, Muthelo and Rockers, will meet in the losers’ final.

The champions will receive R40 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and two sets of soccer kit. A cheque of R25 000, two sets of soccer kit and silver medals are awaiting the team that will obtain the second position.

The third-placed team will be presented with R15 000, soccer kit and bronze medals, while the fourth-placed side will become R10 000 richer.
