THOHOYANDOU - Eric "The horse" Ligudu was instrumental in his team, when Phalaphala FM hammered Univen FM 5-0 in a one sided curtain raiser, played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.

Phalaphala were superior from the onset until the referee blew his last whistle. The cool-headed Mulalo "Lalie" Ramarumo put Phalaphala ahead in five minutes, when he scored after a scramble for the ball.

Phalaphala did not stop fighting and put their opponents under pressure in all departments. It came as no surprise when Eric Ligudu scored easily in the 12th minute. Two minutes later, Ligudu put his team ahead, when he hit an empty net. Univen's player Eric Netshiuda was all over the opponents' defence, but failed to break the solid defence of Phalaphala FM.

Mulalo completed his brace and fourth goal of his team in the 67th minute. Thilivhali "Big T" Muavha got injured in the 70th minute. The tired looking Univen tried their best to get back into the match, but to no avail. The last nail in Univen's coffin was when Ligudu slotted home a beautiful goal in 82nd minute.
