Another victory for Gezane Arsenal

MALAMULELE – Gezane Arsenal deposited full points into their league account when they beat Sporting Football Club 1-0 in their Vodacom Promotional League match played at Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.

Arsenal would have only themselves to blame had they lost the match. They abused countless scoring opportunities in the opening minutes. In the first instance Thomas Maluleke unleashed prematurely instead of moving a few steps towards the keeper.

The only player who was booked for rough tackling was Godfrey Chauke of Arsenal. He tackled Jerry Makasela from behind when the game was 20 minutes old. The struggle between the teams continued even though Gezane had a superior ball possession.

Sporting made two replacements in the second half. They introduced Samson Mathato and Solly Hlungwane for Adam Seroka and Philip Thabane respectively. The replacement did not change the complexion of the game as the visitors continued to fight with their backs against the wall.

The much-awaited goal for Arsenal came in the 89th minute. They were awarded a corner kick that was taken by Musa Nkondo. Vincent Chauke found the net after a rebound. That was Arsenal's second victory in three league matches.
