The former Black Leopards striker, Japhta Mabosho, is the new assistant coach of one of the Vhembe-based second division side, Basel FC.
According to the spokesperson of the club, Mr Vhutshilo Makhado, Mabosho’s appointment came into effect last Monday. Mabosho joined Basel as a player early last season. He was the team’s top goal scorer, despite the fact that he did not feature in a number of matches as a result of injury.
Makhado revealed that the decision to appoint Mabosho as the team’s assistant coach was reached after it was realised that the team could use his experience. Makhado further stated that Mabosho was assessed during their off-season matches, where he was assisting the team’s head coach, Mr Justice Mtileni.
Mabosho joined Black Leopards from Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers 10 years ago.
His relationship with Lidoda Duvha lasted for two seasons.
He played for several national first division league teams, including Hanover Park, FC Cape Town and Vasco Da Gama, before resurfacing in the Vodacom League last season.
When asked how they were planning to fill the void left by Mabosho, Makhado said that they were busy assessing a number of experienced strikers.
