Makhuvha Fire Boys collected the maximum points against Mukoma Young Stars, following a 2-1 victory in their Thulamela LFA League match at a fully packed Mukomaasinanndu grounds on Sunday afternoon.
It was evident from the start that Fire Boys were going to collect full points as the hosts were outclassed in all departments. It took Fire Boys nine minutes to open their account. Their all-rounder, Mulalo Mahafha, was on target, following a neat pass from Musa Phuluwa.
The visitors came close to scoring again in the 24th minute. Nkhumeleni Makhuvha held onto the ball for too long within the Stars’ danger area, until he lost possession.
Young Stars gained momentum with time. Their equalising goal came in the 34th minute. Unarine Sekgobo made no mistake after receiving a pre-cooked pass from Ofhani Sigida. The score was still 1-1 when the feferee blew the half-time whistle.
Young Stars introduced Ndivhuwo Mukwevho for Given Tshitetete and Fire Boys responded by replacing Andani Naluvhola with Ntanganedzeni Mashamba in the 67th minute. Mulalo Mahada of Fire Boys was brought down in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Musa Phuluwa converted to bring the full-time score to 2-1.
